Growing vegetables in Goodyear, Arizona

I love growing vegetables.  No matter where I lived I have had a vegetable garden.   In Carlsbad, CA, I grew tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, zucchini, summer squash, green beans, lettuce, cucumbers, nasturtium flowers for my salads.   Whatever I put in the ground grew.   Even in Houston I had an amazing garden.  Then we moved to Phoenix, Arizona.

After 20 years in Arizona I finally earned the secret of how to grow a successful, rewarding vegetable garden.

Some years are better than others, but I still get a bumper crop of tomatoes,
Nectarines,  (they are a little on the small side, but taste delicious - I also get a lot of doubles, they look funny, but the grandkids like them).

peppers of all kinds,  ( I didn't get around to picking these early, so I dried them and crush them for salsas)

and this large, gangly plant in the center is a cilantro I let grow to seed (and saved them for replanting on a weekly basis - then you can harvest weekly).   Write me a comment or send me an e-mail on the #1 biggest tip that turned by garden into a SUCCESS living in the West Valley of the greater metro Phoenix area.

I learned to accept the unexpected and most of all, I learned to forget everything I knew about garden anywhere else in the country.

Happy gardening.  I welcome your gardening thoughts and questions.

Next post when to plant and when to harvest living in the desert.
